Overview
A memorial monument was erected in Dangsan-dong, Yeongdeungpo-gu in 2006 to honor the spirits of local police officers who died or died in the line of duty during the chaotic period after liberation in 2006, the Korean War, and the postwar period. On June 23, 2006, the Yeongdeungpo Police Station erected this monument here to widely pass down the noble patriotism and spirit of sacrifice of patriotism and sacrifice of patriotic and sacrificial figures such as Jo Yong-tae and Kim Dong-wook (before the war), Lee Jae-woon and Park Yong-ju (during the war), and Yang Il-yong and Kim Young-sik (postwar), as well as to comfort their families. Before and after the Korean War, the Yeongdeungpo police stood up to the North Korean invasion for the safety and peace of the people, and were wiped out in anti-guerrilla operations. Even after the war, victims continued to work tirelessly to ensure the safety of residents over their own lives, resulting in casualties. Yeongdeungpo Police Station holds memorial events for them every year. (Source: Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs website)
