Overview
Located between Bomunsa Temple and a single wall, Mitasa, well known as the Pagoda Monastery, is the residence of female monks. It is said that this temple was first founded in 950 by Hyegeo Guksa and named Mitasa. In 1047, a stone pagoda was constructed and named Tapgol Seungbang. The stone pagoda is located on the hill to the left of Danhagak behind the main hall. The temple was rebuilt in 131 by the Hyegam Provincial Governor, and in the Joseon Dynasty, it was restored by Queen Jeongsun of the Song clan, who was the consort of King Danjong. There is also an old six-story stone pagoda here, with the upper three and lower three levels representing different eras. The construction period for the lower three floors is considered to be the Goryeo period.
