Overview
The Kansong Art Museum was Korea's first private art museum. It was opened in 1938 by Kansong Jeon Hyeong-pil under the name 'Bohwagak (保華閣)' and later reorganized into the Kansong Art Museum in 1966. Founder Kansong Jeon Hyung-pil studied and preserved the excellence and beauty of Korean culture, which had been deliberately devalued and eradicated during the Japanese colonial period, by researching and preserving representative artifacts to widely promote to future generations. The Kansong Art Museum holds 11 National Treasures and 22 Treasures.
