Overview
The Heoninreung Ecological Landscape Conservation Area is a forest where about 17,000 pyeong of alder trees form a community at the foot of Heoninneung, located at the lower slope of Daemosan. Due to groundwater flowing in from the wide watershed on the southern slope of Daemosan Mountain, the water level is high, and the low-lying areas have deep soil, providing favorable environmental conditions and forming large-scale alder communities rarely seen in Seoul. Additionally, throughout the alder area, puddles and small waterways remain, allowing a variety of wetland herbaceous plants to thrive, and Seoul's protected species such as the rainbow woodpecker, swallow, oriole, and titmouse inhabit the area, making biodiversity rich. Various wetland plants such as alder forests, yellow water balsam, solomon's seal, and irises live, and wooden decks are built to make walking easy, allowing visitors to observe the plants living in the wetlands. Once designated as an ecological landscape conservation area, all activities harmful to ecosystem conservation, such as capturing wild plants and animals or extracting soil and rocks, are prohibited within the area.
