Overview
Opened in 2014, the Eunpyeong History Hanok Museum is a representative cultural and artistic space encompassing the history of Eunpyeong, the tradition and future of hanok, from the Unified Silla period to the modern era. It was established to preserve the unique lifestyle and cultural heritage of Eunpyeong that reflect its history, instilling understanding and pride in local culture among residents and students, and fostering a sense of pride in Eunpyeong-gu's identity. The main facility, the permanent exhibition hall, consists of the Eunpyeong History Room, which displays the history of Eunpyeong and artifacts excavated from the New Town, and the Hanok Exhibition Room, which displays the actual Hanok and its architectural processes, the scientific value, and nature-friendliness of Hanok. Inside the museum, there are auxiliary facilities such as special exhibition halls, a small library, experiential learning rooms, education rooms, and a Hope Toy Library. Outside, along various routes, there are stone artifact exhibition halls including the site of a tiled kiln from the Unified Silla period, as well as the rooftop pavilion called Yongchuljeong, which is designed as an open structure where visitors can enjoy both exhibition viewing and relaxation.
