Overview
Guryong Waterfall is named because nine large and small waterfalls stretch along a 3 km section of the Sogeum River valley in Cheonghak-dong, and nine dragons from Kowloon Lake each claimed one waterfall. In particular, the 6th Waterfall is called Gunja Waterfall because it is the quietest and most majestic. About 2 km from the waterfall, there is a statue of myriad creatures with various shapes, and as the name suggests, it has ten thousand different shapes. Known by various names such as Giant's Statue, Guilyeonam, Ewolam, and Candlestick Rock, this rock possesses various shapes that captivate everyone's heart. It is said that Sogeumgang, where Guryong Waterfall is located, became known to the world through Yulgok Yi Yi's 'Cheonghaksan Record.' The 21 km stretch from Sogeumgang to Woljeongsa Temple in Odaesan offers breathtaking scenery that inspires awe. Also, at the summit, there is probably a fortress built by Prince Ma to vent the grief of a fallen nation, making it worth a visit. The bizarre rock formations and grand waterfalls harmonize with the dense forest, creating stunning scenery and connecting with Gyeongpodae, making it a major tourist destination on the East Sea.
