The Dano Festival Transmission Education Center was established on November 25, 2005, to preserve the Gangneung Dano Festival, a national intangible cultural heritage selected by UNESCO as a 'Masterpiece of Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity,' as well as to provide regular viewing of the festival to the general public, operate traditional culture classes, and serve as a civic cultural space. The site area is 6,408㎡, with a total floor area of 2,163㎡. The main building has one basement floor and two above-ground floors, and the performance hall has one basement floor and two above-ground floors, totaling 453 seats. The main building houses the Gangneung Dano Festival promotional exhibition hall, the transmission education room, the Gangneung Dano Festival Committee, and the Gangneung Dano Festival Preservation Society, while the performance building can host planned and rental performances. Educational programs include traditional culture classes and a historical exploration of the Gangneung Danoje Festival. The traditional culture class offers eight classes for Gangneung residents: samulnori (traditional traditional dance), janggu (traditional drum), piri, taepyeongso, gwanno mask play, assorted drum, Korean dance, Gangneung Nongak, and folk songs. The Gangneung Danoje Historical Exploration is a hands-on educational program where visitors visit the cultural relics of Gangneung Danoje and receive on-site explanations to discover the cultural significance of the festival.
