Overview
Banghwa Bridge is one of the Hangang bridges built to enable Incheon International Airport to serve as a hub airport in Northeast Asia in the 21st century. At 2.6 km long, it is the longest road bridge on the Han River, and it is the 27th bridge on the Han River, designed and constructed as the first in Korea to feature a long-span arch truss structure, offering outstanding artistry and functionality. The arch of the bridge borrows the soft image of traditional temples and tiled house eaves, making it the third artificial peak after Gaehwasan Peak and Deokyangsan Peak. The geometric shapes reminiscent of a massive aircraft about to take off and the mesmerizing night view reflected on the waves of the Han River at night inspire awe in all who see it. The bridge's lights are usually on from sunset until 22:00, so you'll have plenty of time to enjoy a drive while enjoying the bridge and Korea's night views. The night view is beautiful, but the sight of the sun setting over Banghwa Bridge at sunset blending with the bridge's arch is truly breathtaking. Banghwa Bridge itself is located on the outskirts of Seoul, allowing visitors to escape the stifling city center and enjoy a leisurely bike path or walking path.
