Overview
Bukhansan, known as Seoul's guardian mountain, offers breathtaking views from the summit of Baegundae at 836 meters above sea level. There are various ways to climb Baegundae, but the route starting from Bukhansan Ui Station is recommended for those new to hiking or those unfamiliar with hiking. This course starts at the entrance of Doseonsa Temple, passing through Harujae and around Insubong, passing through the Baegundae Hermitage of Bukhansan Fortress to Baegundae, making it the shortest and relatively easy course to climb. The total travel time is about 2~3 hours. If you walk slowly toward Baegundae, you will catch sight of Insubong, where King Onjo of Baekje climbed with his brother Biryu and established the capital of the country. From this point, the rocky course begins, requiring steep slopes and holding ropes to move around. When you reach the Baegundae Hermitage, the highest point of Bukhansanseong, you are about 300 meters away from the summit. At the summit of Baegundae, a wide rock sits on it, making it perfect for cooling off sweat and enjoying the wide-open surrounding scenery. Additionally, since there are many rocky ridges, wearing hiking boots is recommended.
