Overview
Uidong Valley is a representative valley of northern Gangnam, located between Dobongsan and Bukhansan. The nine Gubi valleys flowing from Bukhansan to Uidong are called [Uiguguk]. The name was given by Lee Gye, Hongyangho, who lived here from 1762. Hongyangho loved the valley so much that he named nine places while touring the valley and wrote the 'Uidong Gugokgi.' The Ui-dong Nine Scrolls remains the only piece of classical literature in Seoul. Convenient facilities such as stairs and walking trails are well established around the valley, and enjoying walks in the greenery or water activities in the valley helps you forget the sweltering summer heat. You can also visit restaurants along the clear and cool stream of the valley, and chicken porridge is a delicacy especially in summer. Guesthouses are also available, and in March and April, it is preferred as a spot for university students to train their MT. If you climb along Uidong Valley for about 20 minutes, you can find Won Buddhist monasteries, Seongbulsa, Yongdeoksa, Seonunsa, and Gwangmyeongsa, and the lively atmosphere at the entrance quickly calms down, offering a unique charm. It is close to downtown Seoul and easily accessible by public transportation, making it a great place for Seoul residents to relax and heal without burden.
