Overview
The National Gugak Museum is the only museum in Korea specializing in Korean traditional music, exhibiting a wide variety of relics and instruments, and it opened in 1995. In addition to permanent exhibitions introducing the history and branches of Korean traditional music, a variety of special exhibitions and events are being held, including invitations to overseas musical artifacts, research achievements at the National Gugak Center, and the 10th anniversary of the Gugak Archive. The permanent exhibition hall, newly opened in 2019, enhances the listening function and showcases specialized planning and pride as a music museum. At the Gugak Museum, you can experience the beauty of the music—instruments, scores, books, costumes—and the music contained within, all with all five senses.
