Overview
Marronnier Park is a cultural and artistic hub for Seoul citizens, located on the site of the former Seoul National University College of Arts and Sciences and Law School. A horse chestnut tree grows here, planted on April 5, 1929, during the days of Keijo Imperial University, the predecessor of Seoul National University, and the park was named after this tree. There is a children's playground, an outdoor stage, a fountain park, and sculptures on display. The outdoor stage is used as a venue for singers to perform and various cultural events. Around this park are small theaters such as the Cultural Center Grand Theater, Batanggol Small Theater, and Dongsung Art Center. There are many famous restaurants and cafes with various concepts nearby. This park hosts many performances and events open for free year-round, so no matter when you visit, there is plenty to participate in and enjoy.
