Overview
Bukhansan, the true mountain of Seoul, spans Eunpyeong-gu, Seongbuk-gu, Gangbuk-gu, Dobong-gu, as well as Uijeongbu, Yangju, and Goyang in Gyeonggi Province. The magnificent ridge, where the highest peak Baegundae, Insubong to the east, and Mangyeongdae to the south stretch out, draws hikers year-round. Jokduribong is a 370-meter-high peak rising at the southwesternmost point of Bukhansan. The name comes from the fact that from a distance, the shape of the peak looks like it is wearing a jokduri (traditional Chinese head), but it is also called Suribong because it looks like an eagle's head, and it is also called the small Insubong because it looks like Insubong has been transplanted as is. From Bulgwang Station, it takes about 50 minutes to reach Jokduribong. The time is short, but the difficulty is a bit high. Be cautious not only of the steep stairs but also dangerous rocky sections.
