Overview
Gangneung Museum of Art Gyodong was remodeled from the Gangneung City Library, reopening as the Gangneung Museum of Art in September 2006 and as the Museum of Art in April 2013. In April 2025, the main building of the Gangneung Museum of Art opened, and Gyodong is now operating as a branch. The museum is a two-story building with a cozy exhibition space of about 160 pyeong, situated on a high hill, offering a panoramic view of downtown Gangneung. As a central space for local arts and communication, it operates a variety of programs to provide citizens and tourists with diverse cultural experiences, featuring distinctive exhibitions with fresh perspectives based on Gangneung's local culture and history.
