Overview
Daerim-dong Chinatown is a densely populated residential Chinatown formed in the early 2000s when Korean residents in China settled around Daerim Station. Unlike traditional open port-centered Chinatowns in Incheon or Busan, this one features a unique form closely connected to daily life. About 40% of the shops inside Daerim Central Market are operated by Koreans living in China, and nearby are convenience facilities such as banks, accommodations, and restaurants for them. At the market, you can taste a variety of Chinese dishes, from traditional dishes like mala soup and hot pot to fusion dishes, and street food infused with Chinese ingredients and spices is also sold.
