Overview
The Bonsai Museum is a bonsai specialty museum opened in September 1988 by the Korea Bonsai Research Institute to widely promote bonsai culture. Over 5,000 bonsai items cultivated and collected over 20 years by the Korea Bonsai Research Institute are on display, along with more than 1,000 bonsai-related materials such as ancient documents and photographs. Among the bonsai in the collection are over 200 bonsai works of high artistic value, including maple trees 300 years old, juniper bonsai over 500 years old, as well as bonsai of high artistic value, such as Korean pine, various fruit trees, plum trees, and crape myrtles. You can be greatly captivated by the appearance of bonsai that captures a small piece of nature and the changing beauty of time and seasons. There is a Tree Design College where you can receive education about bonsai, and a tree hospital where you can treat diseased trees. Museum activities focus on bonsai education for both officials and the general public. There are weekly Bonsai basic and technical classes for the general public, and six commissioned training sessions are conducted annually for related public officials.
